Our friends at Appalachian Bible College had a faithful old promo display they affectionately called "Big Bertha." She had served them well for many years. . . but she was clunky and unwieldy, and starting to show wear and tear. When ABC asked us about trading in Big Bertha for a new model, we were thrilled to help!
The display options these days can be overwhelming! So before making suggestions, we listened to Appalachian's wish list:
What they really needed was a suite of displays, designed to work together (or independently) as the event would dictate.
For the focal point of the displays, we recommended an 8' x 8' Curved Backwall with a tension-fabric system using interlocking-arms for easy set up and tear down. Here are a few pictures of the model we recommended. (It includes a rolling carry bag as well.)
For the two vertical displays, we recommended a standard 36" width floor-standing retractor display. These are super-easy to transport and set up and can be moved around to suit their needs.
Finally, for the table cloth, we recommended a dye-sublimated table throw (printed full color edge to edge) to give them maximum impact.
With the details in place, it was time for the fun part. . . the design! Here's a mock-up that we showed ABC of the display designs working together.
The design showcases the blue palette of ABC's branding, and their motto "Because Life Is for Service" is front and center on the backwall display.
We included a duotone photo of their iconic campus cupola. And since the natural beauty of their location sets ABC apart, we couldn't resist including the misty Appalachian mountains in the background. BONUS POINTS if you noticed how the mountains "flow" into the tablecloth design when the table is set up in front of the backwall. :)
For the vertical college retractor, we dropped in some great photography of ABC students in action, reinforcing their passion to "Think Biblically, Live Godly, and Serve Practically."
And for the camp retractor, we deliberately broke out of the blue tones and included some rustic browns, with lots of splashy texture and the key action shot of the rapids.
After production, we did a quick test-assembly of everything in our studio before shipping to ABC.
Special thanks to Sarah who let me use her as my "scale model" in this snapshot. Funny story, in our small lobby, I had to lie on the floor to take this picture and get all three displays (and Sarah) in the shot... We didn't have room for the table, but you get the idea!
We couldn't wait to get the new displays in the hands of ABC, and they wasted no time setting them up and putting them to use!
… "We are amazed how much lighter the backwall is, and easier to set up, than our current display. "Big Bertha" has earned her retirement. ;-) The retractors look really sharp too!"
